One could wax poetic about
the many talents of Prince: prolific instrumentalist,
producer, singer, songwriter, Oscar-winning
composer, multi-award winning artist, independent
visionary, music industry revolutionist,
ruler of his own empire. For an artist to
have a career that spans over 25 years is
monumentally rare. For that same artist
to continually reinvent himself with perpetual
momentum is sheer brilliance. His mantra:
there is no need to dwell on the past when
there is so much future before us.
There's little need to
reiterate the long colorful history that
embodies the persona of Prince. From "Purple
Rain" to "Lovesexy," from
"The Gold Experience" to "The
Rainbow Children," he is a constant
metamorphosis of music and mystery. Thinking
outside of the stratosphere, Prince has
repeatedly marketed and planned his own
business ventures, ignoring the scoffings
of others, all the while knowing that the
Master Plan would always bring his music
to the foreground.
In 2004, the industry stood
up and applauded Prince's "comeback"
only to be reminded he's been here all along.
That February, Prince's electrifying Grammy
performance with Beyonce captivated the
audience with his music's timelessness.
This was one of the many reasons why Rolling
Stone bestowed him with the title of "Best
Male Performer of 2004". |
